JOB OVERVIEW
A Retail Parts Advisor at a Genesis dealership plays a key role in assisting retail customers who visit the dealership's parts department to purchase Genesis automotive parts and accessories for their vehicles. This position focuses on providing excellent customer service and technical assistance and ensuring customers have a positive experience when purchasing parts. The Retail Parts Advisor is often the first point of contact for retail customers seeking parts and accessories, so strong customer service skills, technical knowledge, and a friendly demeanor are essential for success in this role. Additionally, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are valuable attributes for a Retail Parts Advisor at a Genesis dealership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming and assisting retail customers who visit the parts department. Address customer inquiries and help them identify and select the correct Genesis parts and accessories for their vehicles.
- Parts Identification: Use your knowledge of Genesis vehicles and the parts catalog to accurately identify the parts or accessories customers need. Provide guidance on compatibility and suitability for specific vehicle models.
- Technical Assistance: Offer technical support and guidance to customers who may have questions about parts installation, maintenance, or repairs. Explain the proper use and care of parts and accessories.
- Price Quoting: Provide accurate price quotes for parts and accessories. Explain pricing, discounts, and any applicable promotions to customers.
- Order Processing: Process customer orders efficiently and accurately. Use dealership software and systems to create invoices, track sales, and manage customer accounts.
- Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management by tracking stock levels, restocking parts, and organizing the parts department to ensure that parts are readily accessible and well-maintained.
- Returns and Exchanges: Handle returns and exchanges of parts and accessories in accordance with dealership policies and procedures. Ensure that returned items are inspected for quality and reentered into inventory as appropriate.
- Payment Processing: Collect payments from customers for parts and accessories purchases. Handle cash, credit card transactions, and other payment methods according to dealership protocols.
- Promotions and Upselling: Promote special sales, discounts, and promotions to retail customers to increase sales revenue. Identify opportunities for upselling or suggesting complementary accessories.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all customer transactions, including sales receipts, invoices, and order forms. Ensure that all paperwork is properly filed and archived.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to safety regulations and dealership policies, particularly when handling hazardous materials or operating equipment such as forklifts.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, new Genesis models, and changes in parts and accessories technology through ongoing training and professional development.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other dealership departments, such as the service department and sales team, to ensure seamless operations and enhance overall customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent. Additional automotive or parts-related coursework may be advantageous.
- Automotive Knowledge: A strong understanding of automotive parts, accessories, and Genesis vehicles is essential. This knowledge helps you accurately identify and recommend the right parts for customers.
- Customer Service Skills: Exceptional customer service skills are crucial. You'll interact directly with retail customers, requiring effective communication, active listening, and problem-solving abilities.
- Technical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and automotive terminology is valuable for providing technical assistance to customers.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computer software for parts cataloging, inventory management, and order processing is often required. Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS) can be a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Retail Parts Advisors may encounter complex customer inquiries or issues. The ability to analyze problems and find solutions is beneficial.
- Cash Handling: If the role involves processing cash payments, cash-handling skills and financial responsibility are required.
- Ethical Conduct: Upholding high ethical standards, including honesty and integrity, is essential when handling customer transactions and dealership assets.
